The Provision of Mental Healthcare Services in the Primary Care Setting: A Qualitative Study of Primary Care Family Nurse Practitioners

My name is Leslie M. Faulkner and I am a doctoral student at William Carey University in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. As a family nurse practitioner in a primary care setting, I am providing and managing mental health issues due to the lack of and/or availability of mental health providers. This study is being conducted to obtain information regarding the perceptions of family nurse practitioners providing mental health care in primary care settings.
Participation in this qualitative study is voluntary with no incentives or associated retribution. At any time you may withdraw from the study. All information, identity and responses are confidential and will remain anonymous at all times. There is no predictable risk or harm associated with participation in this study. This study involves a 15-30 minute face to face interview.
The inclusion criterion for study participants:
1. Full or part-time family nurse practitioner with one year or more of experience working in a primary care setting.
