*LANP AWARDS:
1. LANP Nurse Practitioner Entrepreneur of the Year - Nominations Due March 31st
CRITERIA
The Nurse Practitioner Entrepreneur Nominee of the Year must be licensed without restrictions as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing and possess the following characteristics:
1) Perceives an opportunity which utilizes knowledge and skills to provide unique services to patients, families, and the community which is high quality, evidenced-based, cost-effective, and outcome driven.
2) Possesses consultative and communication skills which promote and maintain a referral mechanism.
3) Collaborates with other healthcare providers, community, and business leaders to enhance the delivery of accessible, affordable, and accountable healthcare..
4) Systemically evaluates practice through quality-driven monitoring and peer review
5) Contributes significantly to the improvement of care for individuals, families, and communities.
6) Nominations must be submitted via e-mail to Lisa Bayhi, LANP Secretary, at lbayhi@bellsouth.net with "NP Entrepreneur" in the subject line no later than March 31st of each calendar year

2. LANP Nurse Practitioner Student of the Year - Nominations Due March 31st annually
CRITERIA
The Nurse Practitioner Student of the Year Nominee must be licensed without restrictions as a Registered Nurse by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing and currently enrolled in an accredited school of nursing with an advanced practice program for nurse practitioners and possess the following characteristics:
1) Demonstrates excellence as a nurse practitioner student and role model for other nurse practitioner students.
2) Possesses excellent clinical and interpersonal skills in the delivery of holistic care through health promotion and disease prevention.
3) Utilizes critical and reflective thinking with effective communication skills in the promotion of high quality care.
4) Maintains a positive, energetic, and creative approach in the delivery of high quality, cost-effective healthcare.
5) Has made a significant contribution to the improvement of nursing care for individuals, families, and communities

LANP SCHOLARSHIP - The Edna Trueting Scholarship - Nominations Due March 31st annually
This scholarship is offered on behalf of the Louisiana Association of Nurse Practitioner in honor of the first Nurse Practitioner from Louisiana,
Ms. Edna Trueting. Any Graduate Student is eligible for this scholarship based upon the following criteria:
1). Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing
2). Enrolled in an accredited school of Nursing with an advanced practice program for Nurse Practitioners and considered in good academic standing
3). Current member of the Louisiana Association of Nurse Practitioners
4). Submit a 500 word document with the following information:
a). Motives for becoming a Nurse Practitioner
b). Attributes that will promote the role of the Nurse Practitioner in the following areas:
direct clinical practice, expert coaching and guidance, consultation and collaboration, research, ethical decision making, clinical
and professional leadership.
c). Contributions that will enhance the healthcare of the patient, their families, and community through health promotion and
disease prevention.
5). All written documentation must be submitted via e-mail to Lisa Bayhi, LANP Secretary, at lbayhi@bellsouth.net with "Edna Trueting"
in the subject line no later than March 31st of each calendar year

*ACNP AWARD - Sharp Cutting Edge Award - Nominations Due the Last Friday in July annually
| This award was initiated in
1996 in honor of Nancy J. Sharp, MSN, RN, an exemplar in the world of
organizational leadership for more than two decades. As the first
Executive Vice President of the American College of Nurse Practitioners
she demonstrated what a positive force she is for NPs, both politically
and professionally. The recipients of the Sharp Cutting Edge Award have,
like Nancy, demonstrated effective efforts "above and beyond the call of
duty" on behalf of the nurse practitioner community.
CRITERIA The individual is an NP, nurse or lay person who has demonstrated extraordinary belief in NPs and efforts to improve the image and visibility of NPs through contributions in one or more of the following areas:
Nomination Process: Any ACNP Member may submit a nomination of 250 words or less detailing the reasons for nominating the candidate for this award along with the nominee's CV, and two (2) letters of recommendation to the ACNP Washington Office. The award winner will be notified in August 2005 and should plan to be present at the ACNP National Clinical Conference in Palm Springs, California October 19-22, 2005 to receive recognition. The deadline for submission is the last Friday in July annually. The Awards Subcommittee reviews the submissions, with a recommendation made to the Membership Committee and final approval by the Board of Directors. Send Nominations to: 2006 Recipient -
